NRC Hardware Thrives with a little help from AdvancePro

I spoke with Ed Fredrikson Jr. – President of NRC Hardware Distribution. The company has been providing distribution, merchandising, inventory management, product education, and consulting to hardware retailers in the New England area since 1984.
We had a discussion about lessons learned from their use of AdvancePro® software.
It gave me the opportunity to better understand their business, how they use the software today, its business value to their company, and how AdvancePro Technologies can support their growth.
What follows is a summary of our conversation.
After considering other solutions, what made you decide on AdvancePro software?
“We have been using AdvancePro for over 6 years. We were going to use a systems integrator who made a custom program for L.L.Bean®. They suggested canned software would be less expensive. After a review, AdvancePro was chosen. It was and still is the best value.”
How are you using AdvancePro today?
“We use AdvancePro to manage QuickBooks® integration, push orders, costing, sales, inventory data and reporting. We would like to work with the technical team to provide even more customized and integrated reporting based on the data AdvancePro has.
What changes have you seen in your business as a result of using AdvancePro software?
“We have increased our fill rates and inventory turns resulting in significant savings based on extraction of AdvancePro data into our own custom Excel® format.”
Do you see your company expanding AdvancePro usage over time?
“We would like to explore AdvancePro’s mobile solution as a possible alternative to what our stores use today as well as e-commerce.”
Have you received the right level of customer support that you need, when you need it?
“AdvancePro’s support has improved somewhat and they are constantly looking at ways to improve how to attend to small business needs. In the last few months it has got better. “
Would you recommend this solution, and if so, why?
“Yes, I would and have recommended this solution. The main reason is that it is a great value for functionality it has. A consultant told us that this is a mid-range software solution and could be a big advantage for many businesses at a small fraction of the cost.
